Episode 059 Don’t Make Assumptions
URL: http://www.julieannsullivan.com/dont-make-assumptions/
Summary
This episode of Mere Mortals Unite explores a super power solution contained in the book, The Four Agreements, by Don Miquel Ruiz. The four agreements are simple, not easy and their impact is deep. This episode looks at the agreement of Don’t Make Assumptions. When you make assumptions you’re not dealing with a situation in its true form. You may even convince yourself that your assumption is the truth. This agreement is closely tied to the agreement of not taking anything personally. The two combined are a frequent cause of misunderstandings and conflict. You must be more aware of the information you process about yourself and the world around you, so that you can live a more successful life with less hassles and more success. Taking deliberate action on a consistent basis is how you live life to its fullest.

Episode 056 Don’t Take Anything Personally
URL: http://www.julieannsullivan.com/dont-take-anything-personally/
Summary
This episode of Mere Mortals Unite explores a super power solution contained in the book, The Four Agreements, by Don Miquel Ruiz. The four agreements are simple, not easy and their impact is deep. This episode looks at how not to take anything personally. It’s a painful existence when you take everything personally. People will offer opinions of you, but they may be false, created by their own experiences and circumstances in their life. That set of events is most certainly different than yours. There is a need to quiet the mind so that it is possible to decipher what people are saying to us as true or not true. A person probably doesn’t get up in the morning and plan on cutting you off in traffic and yet you might somehow react as if it was personal. When people are in pain or jealous they may lash out to alleviate that feeling and not to hurt you. That is what this agreement is about. Filtering and being accountable for your own feelings.

Drew has some great ideas to make life more fun, such as gamifying processes you do every day … for instance, reading your emails in an accent. You just have to find what motivates you. Prepare to hear some great ideas and find out why it’s good to know what Disney princess you are.

Episode 053 Be Impeccable With Your Word
URL: http://www.julieannsullivan.com/be-impeccable-with-your-word/
Summary
This episode of Mere Mortals Unite explores a super power solution contained in the book, The Four Agreements, by Don Miquel Ruiz. The four agreements are simple, not easy and their impact is deep. This episode looks at how to be impeccable with your word. The word impeccable means without sin in Latin. The agreement deals with doing no harm with the words that come out of your mouth. It also includes the thoughts in your head, as the avenue of how you talk to yourself. As human beings in our current society, life is sometimes too busy for you to really think about what you say. However, making time to think before you speak makes a profound difference in your life and the lives around you.

Episode 052: Let’s Get Along - Candy Whirley
URL: http://www.julieannsullivan.com/lets-get-along-candy-whirley/
My guest today is Candy Whirley, whose superpower is helping people get along better. She’s written a book called It Takes 4 to Tango, which describes people as either chameleons, lions, lambs, or owls. Based on research from other assessment tools, Candy came up with a way to make it fun to find out who you are and how you relate to the rest of the world. Relationships are so important in all facets of our lives.
I talk with Candy about the inherent characteristics and how important it is to find out what those are in yourself and others. Whether you’re looking to work better with your coworkers, your significant other, or your grandchildren, Candy gives two steps to build stronger communication. First, identify what type you are, accept that, and analyze if those that surround you are alike or different. And then, find ways to adapt to the situation. If you’re a lamb and your boss is a lion, you can wish all day your boss would change, but a better outcome would be created by respecting the differences. Candy will help you learn how to treat people in the manner they need to be treated. Listen, learn and then go out and make a difference.
Bio: Candy Whitley has been a leader and business owner for fifteen years. She is a member of the National Speakers Association, receiving CSP this year, as well as a volunteer for Harvesters International in South Sudan. She graduated Cum Laude as an undergrad in Speech Communications and has a Master's degree in Management. Candy was an NFL Cheerleader for three years with the Kansas City Chiefs, and is the author of several books, including It Takes 4 to Tango. She is an expert at building, fixing, and forming relationships in the workplace by exploring personality and generational differences.

Episode 047 If Only...
URL: http://www.julieannsullivan.com/if-only/
Summary
This episode of Mere Mortals Unite explores the super power solution of shutting down the “IF ONLY” mentality. You can go through life believing if you just had different circumstances, then you could be happy or successful. Or, you can be accountable for how you act, react and feel about the life you are living.
You can take responsibility to change what you don’t like and learn to accept what you cannot change. You can learn to enhance that which is working well and let go of what’s not. Sometimes when you think it would be better, IF ONLY, that's an opportunity to learn about your own inner workings. It all begins with being self aware when your mind slips into this chasm. Then you can change that behavior and take back the power that you give away.
It’s not about the pursuit of happiness, but rather being happy in the pursuit.
